Arrived in Anderson

I’m grateful for the opportunity to visit my nephew Zac and his family here in Anderson, South Carolina. I’m here for the weekend to explore more about his church NewSpring and spend some time with the family.

This morning Zac gave me a tour of the facilities @ NewSpring. http://www.newspring.cc/

I’ll give a few more updates through the weekend.

I’m excited for what’s happening at Grace this Sunday. Join me in praying even today, for God’s favor as the church meets this week. I’m praying for my bud, Greg Tonkinson, who will be teaching, and I’m praying for all the volunteers that make Grace happen each week. You guys are the greatest.

Headed to Atlanta

I’m currently in the air headed to Atlanta, where tomorrow I’ll begin my 2 hour drive north to Anderson, SC. I’ll be spending the weekend with my nephew Zac and his great family. We secured these plans some time ago. I’m thrilled to be able to enter his world for a few days. Zac serves at NewSpring Church in Anderson. I’m looking forward to seeing where he works and worships.

At Grace this weekend, I’m thrilled to have Greg Tonkinson as our teaching guest. Greg and I went to Phoenix Seminary together. He’s taught at Grace before. You DO NOT want to miss this. Matter of fact, do me a favor, and invite someone to come with you. Seriously, you’ll be blessed. Let’s have more in church when the pastor is out of town. Why not? Everyone expects the opposite. Go ahead, surprise me!

Remember this Sunday is the Children’s Ministry Orientation. It’s not too late to sign up for this amazing opportunity to serve the children of Grace. Call the office Thursday and let them know you’re in!

I’ll be checking in on this blog throughout the weekend with updates on my time with Zac. If you haven’t seen his blog recently, check it out on the side of this page.

Back at it!

It has been pretty quiet in my blog world for the past couple of weeks. I got hit with the bug pretty good. As of today, Laurie and I are both feeling much better. It’s been good to be at the office most of the day to start catching up.

I’ve really missed being around the people of Grace these past couple of Sundays. Both weeks, I came in and preached and ducked out so as not to contaminate any of you nice people. Well, that’s done with for now. I can’t wait to see you on Sunday and catch up some.

This week I’ll be speaking from John 15. Go ahead and read up a little, that’ll help.

It’s a gorgeous day here in Flag, and we’re expecting a quick visit with Leonard and Susie. Hopefully tomorrow we can drive up the mountain and see some of the colors of fall!

I hope you’re able to enjoy this colorful season as well. Can’t wait to see you at Grace on Sunday.

The Oddness of Sickness

Just a quick update:
I’ve been in bed ALL week since last Sunday afternoon. I was feeling a bit better on Friday, then today, it kinda hit like a second punch. I’m guessing it’s your basic cold stuff, but it’s miserable. Now Laurie is down with similar stuff.

I’m getting ready to come to Grace tomorrow and preach. I feel bad that I may have to simply come in and out the back like I did last week. I really am missing people.

Thanks for praying for us as we take care of each other and get through this crud. Aside from health stuff, I really am excited to talk about Jesus tomorrow and the amazing gift He gave us. Hope to at least wave to you from the stage. Blessings.

Speaking Opps

I would love to invite you to pray for a couple of added opportunities for me this week. Tonight I get to speak to the amazing students at InterVarsity. I love encouraging these students as they live out their faith in Jesus on the NAU campus. We’ve been given something special from God to use to advance the gospel message, let’s find it, dust it off and work it for God’s use!

Tomorrow night I get to encourage about 100 leaders at the leadership banquet at Thomas Road Baptist Church in Phoenix. This is the church I served with for 10 years prior to coming to Flagstaff. It’s been awhile since I’ve been there to speak. Can’t wait to remind them of the love of Jesus for them and for their community.

My favorite opportunity will be Sunday morning @ 10am @ Grace Community. John 14:7-14
